It has been a very long time since I could take my kiddos to the Zoo. This winter has been extremely mild and we took the opportunity to go on a Saturday in January. NO SNOW! A warm 43 degrees. Kids loved it. I spent little money as my Dad and I caroled in our 1860's Dickens outfits this Christmas at the Hogle Zoo so we got four free tickets (he gave me his two free ones) and then we packed in our lunch. Such fantastic bonding time with them!
Can it be that my baby girl is four? It's like she is no longer considered a toddler:( Such a big girl. All she wanted for her birthday was a real horse. That's not too much to ask for eh? After reality set into her she then asked for a real chihuahua. Again, I don't think so. We got her to settle for a big girl bike, and boy howdy does she love that new bike. She took to it like it was nothing. Very coordinated. She now (with training wheels) stands up and peddles. She has to keep up with those brothers of hers.
Out of much bribery for her birthday party, she agreed to wear a dress. Does that make me a mean Mommy? Either way, I thought she looked beautiful for her special party at Pirate Island. Thanks to Heleen W. for the dress:)

Mitchell gave Lydia her birthday gift early so he could show her how to use her Barbie computer. She loved it!
Grandma Jones is always so good to read a few books to the kids before they go to bed. They look forward to this. I finally finished it. I made a "pinafore" to go over Lydia's dress. It's like a child apron that goes over the dress. A little girl never went outside without a pinafore to protect her dress. Although I love the pinafore more than I do the dress, so I am hoping she doesn't soil it while playing at the reenactment.
